DUUUVAAAL Needs a Geofilter

Living in a city going through its renaissance is extremely exciting, but only if everyone is involved and active. There are many organizations and groups supporting our Jaguars, the historic districts of Jacksonville and our community events, and when you search local hashtags, we outrank other major cities in the state. In my opinion, there is one thing could make this revitalization better and more interactive – Jacksonville’s very own Snapchat Geofilter! Snapchat introduced it’s Geofilters last summer as an added feature for its users. This allows Snapchat users in specific market areas to add custom overlays to their snaps for personalization. Some examples of this would’ve been seen by users during the College Gameday games on Saturdays and while visiting Disneyland.

Social Media Campaigns

One of my previous clients was asked to be a sponsor for this year’s “Anything Goes Tailgate” for the Georgia/Florida college football game. This year’s event featured a full performance the night before the game from a new country duo, Florida Georgia Line. My client received three pairs of tickets, among other offers, for being a sponsor, so we created a Facebook campaign to hold a contest for the ticket giveaway. Continue reading

Email Blasts and Newsletters

Link

iContact_white600Many of our clients include monthly or bimonthly email blasts or newsletters. Usually, we focus on current campaigns, special events or blog content. We use both major platforms for email marketing, Constant Contact and iContact. Some of our clients already had Constant accounts setup when we signed them, but any new clients get put on our iContact account (which I personally prefer.) We create almost all messages by hand in the Message Builders, once in while creating a template for a certain client. Continue reading

Social Media

Image

Social media is a tremendous growing industry, literally updating everyone’s lives to an exciting level.  I have always been attracted to the digital side of marketing, but also wanted to be involved in the guerrilla movement of social media. This position with Media Mix gave me that. I believe that social media is a very strong tool, and with the proper etiquette and creative thinking, can be world impacting.

One way to attract your viewers is through imagery. We like to try to use images in most of our posts as to catch the viewers eye. Especially in today’s world, the format that Instagram created is what Facebook has essentially turned into – it is no longer a social network but a photo sharing platform, only better. The artwork below are pieces that I made for Facebook, a newsletter or web banners. I used Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and a free website called Pixlr.

What in the World is Going On?

Go-Mobile-500x301

The first topic I feel I should look into is one most relevant to myself and my generation: mobile access. It is unbelievable to witness the change in technology, right in my hands. I remember back in elementary school (not to sound like my grandfather) when we learned how to right a simple research paper. My class was taken to the library, and we were shown where the reference section was. And that was it. I used the encyclopedia to figure out what my topic would be, and to research it. Time was essential, and you were required to put in so much effort if you wanted a passing paper. Now, all it takes is one simple website: Google. Thanks to the genius’ who brought us the World Wide Web, AOL, personal computers and Apple, any question or concern can simply be found using Google. The most up-to-date use of Google is on our “handy-dandy” iPhones. In one instant, we can settle a trivia debate, find a recipe for dinner, or show our friends the latest viral craze on YouTube.

Taking Chances

I would consider myself a traditionalist when it comes to my opinions of the world of journalism that I have studied. During my four years in high school, I was an active member of the yearbook staff. I loved every second of those years. While I was only enrolled in basic Journalism classes, I felt that they were more like real offices with deadlines and meetings. I loved having to go around to different events to snap key moments on our Cannon camera. I thoroughly enjoyed drawing our layouts by hand, editing the pages, and organizing the photos. However, my senior year – the year I became editor-in-chief – our procedures for producing our book had changed, and were moved from the traditional paper layouts, to an online website through our representative publisher. I was the last person to jump on board with the change. I disliked everything being online and digital, and missed the physical capabilities of working by hand. It was then that I realized how much technology will change our whole world. Continue reading
