Living in a city going through its renaissance is extremely exciting, but only if everyone is involved and active. There are many organizations and groups supporting our Jaguars, the historic districts of Jacksonville and our community events, and when you search local hashtags, we outrank other major cities in the state. In my opinion, there is one thing could make this revitalization better and more interactive – Jacksonville’s very own Snapchat Geofilter! Snapchat introduced it’s Geofilters last summer as an added feature for its users. This allows Snapchat users in specific market areas to add custom overlays to their snaps for personalization. Some examples of this would’ve been seen by users during the College Gameday games on Saturdays and while visiting Disneyland.
Snapchat allows designers to submit their designs for review using these guidelines. Unfortunately, businesses are currently not allowed to submit Community Geofilters, but Snapchat encourages designers to submit them for a variety of other instances. Events, popular tourist locations, popular neighborhoods in major cities, etc. have the opportunity to have its own Geofilter. And Jacksonville has many options for ours!
In the Jacksonville area, there are many instances where Geofilters can be fun and used numerous times by residents and tourists. Below is my suggested list. Now here is my request – any and all Jacksonville designers who would like to submit a Community Geofilter for any of these or other examples, I strongly encourage you to do so and I’m sure the Jacksonville community will equally appreciate it!
