It’s a little odd to title a post the same name as the site I am posting on (did that make sense?) In August, visual.ly posted an infographic breaking down the numbers for WordPress as of 2013. It’s astounding to see that there are 69 million WordPress websites in the world, and that 100,000 new ones are created every day! And Media Mix is included in the count! Currently, 11 of our clients have WordPress sites built by us, including our own. We manage these every day, week and month according to what events, specials or updates need to be added.
Throughout this internship, and as I’ve been learning HTML and CSS, I’ve have become very comfortable maneuvering around the backend of the sites and making changes. I have linked to posts, changed banners in the home page slideshow, managed store location landing pages, and more for all of our sites. Our designers use multiple codes to create the sites, including PHP and CSS stylesheets. I have learned to understand which page template to locate to make a certain change, finding that problem area in the code, and making the appropriate change. I’ve been learning the basics of HTML and CSS through a free website called Code Academy (which is a GREAT resource that I highly recommend!)
